Andy Turns 21 and Comes to Shanghai!

May 5/6, 2015 Andy and I head to Shanghai for a month and he turns 21 in the middle of the flight on the way over. The United Airlines staff treated him to his first legal drink and we toasted to his Birthday!

Dad picked us up and we headed to one of our favorite spots in Shanghai called Tianzifan! It is a crazy maze of alleys with bars and restaurants. We found stools at our favorite spot - Friends Bar.
Nothing goes better with a Tiger beer than a Durian popsicle!
We ate at some of our favorite restaurants like this one at Cool Docks and enjoyed the beauty of the Huang Pu River and the newly completed Financial building that is now the 3rd tallest in the world!

Phil arranged for Andy to take some welding lessons - really?!? He did a great job!

Getting the proper gear on. Safety first!

We also decided to take some Chinese Cooking lessons and were treated with personal lessons from the Master of the cooking school. We learned how to make Chinese dumplings, fried tofu and veggies!

We were also lucky enough to participate in a tea ceremony at the nearby Confucius temple.

Blooming teas.

Now that the jet lag is wearing off, we are off to Japan for the first time. We will spend 3 days in Tokyo and 5 days in Kyoto! Really excited to see this part of the world.

xoxo,
Phil, Kathy & Andy
